ABOUT

Pavithra Srinivasan dancer

Pavithra considers her dedication to Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music and study of Vedanta as her life long tapasya.  Her commitment to the pursuit of Art and Culture is not only to entertain, but also to educate and elevate its awareness.

Pavithra has given several performances over the last three decades. She has carved a niche for herself by creating thematic solo productions based on profound timeless truths and wisdom from the ancient Hindu scriptures  that are inspiring and uplifting. Though a regular solo performer, Pavithra has also been a principal dancer in several dance ensembles by renowned artists and by the Cleveland Cultural Alliance that have toured USA and Canada. Critics have hailed her performances which have spanned three decades across three continents.

Pavithra’s lineage is bejeweled with eminent teachers of dance and music to whom she carries eternal gratitude: Padma Bhushan The Dhananjayans, Padma Bhushan late Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan, Late Sri. B. Seetha Rama Sharma, Late Smt. Nirmala Ramachandran, Smt. Radha, Smt. Vasantha and Late Sri Aravindakshan.  She is also blessed to have Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, world renowned traditional teacher of Advaita Vedanta, and founder of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, as her spiritual Guru.

Pavithra has taught Natya and Nattuvangam in KalaPeetham; she was also on faculty of Bharata Kalanjali in Chennai and Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in Saylorsburg, PA. Today, she runs her own school, “Arsha Kala Bharati” in Chennai, where she nurtures the next generation of dancers along with Vedic Heritage and Bhagavad Gita classes.

In recent years, Pavithra has also been a committed student of Carnatic Music.  Her debut performance in Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, under the tutelage of Smt. Sulochana Pattabhiraman and Smt. Bhagyalakshmi Suresh, was recognized with the G.N.B. Endowment award. She continues training under the tutelage of the renowned vainika, Vidwan Sri. P. Vasanth Kumar.

Pavithra Srinivasan was also a Visiting Fellow of India Foundation - an independent research center focused on the issues,
